Vera Mae Phelps was born in Indianapolis Indiana on July 14, 1944
to the late Mae Pearl and LaVier Phelps, She attended Wood High School.
She retired from RCA-Thomson Electronics after working there 37 years.
She joined the workforce again and retired from Diversified Systems in 2004.
She was a devoted and faithful member of Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church for over 40 years where she served in the Media Ministry, Bulletin Ministry and also assisted with the Hospitality Committee. She had the spirit of God in her and believed in obedience to faith. She believed that faith without works is dead. Very giving heart. She exemplified great strength, discipline, and taught these values to her family.
Vera Mae will always be remembered for her kind, meek, and humble spirit and her ability to receive everyone with love and a smile on her face.
Vera Mae was a devoted and loving Mother, Grandmother, she was a "Master" Cruiser. She traveled with her Children and her Best Friend the late Delores Blaine. She was an excellent Seamstress and loved to bless others with her sewing. She enjoyed cooking and was very well known for her melt in your mouth Biscuits and Sweet Potatoes Pies and so many other dishes.
Vera Mae departed this life on Monday November 20,2023 at the age of seventy-nine years, Although her journey was not always easy, her life was filled with laughter, love, and joy. Many often described her as being the sweetest person.
Vera Mae was preceded in death by her parents.
Vera Mae leaves to cherish her memory one Daughter, LaVella Phelps-Washington, three Sons, Edward (Gloria) Phelps, Johnathon Hidleburg, Jerrold Hidleburg, And one Sister Valerie Phelps-White, two brothers Min. Rodney (Charlene) Phelps, and Stanley Phelps. 22 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grand Children, A host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and many beloved friends.
